Taylor Cruises to Pair of Victories in Sunshine State
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Taylor posted a pair of wins on its second day of the Keiser Invitational, taking down Southeastern in four sets and dominating Webber International in a three-set sweep in its final showing of the season-opening tourney.
The Trojans pounded 62 kills in a 25-13, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20 win over Southeastern, led by 23 kills in 44 swings from Amanda Adams. The fifth-year senior also posted 11 digs for her second double-double in the season’s first three contests.
Ryan Czerniak joined Adams in double figures in the kills column with 11 and Grace Isaacs added nine terminations in 16 tries. Taylor got a vintage Kacy Bragg stat line with 46 assists, 13 digs, six kills, three aces and two blocks, while Nikki Parrett added 12 digs and Stephaney Fifield collected 20 digs.
Taylor had no trouble in its final match of the tournament, blasting Webber International by a 25-10, 25-7, 25-8 score to close the event with three wins in four matches.
TU hit .407 as a team in the blowout and committed just eight hitting errors over the three sets. Adams led the charge again with a team-high 12 kills, with Czerniak and Sarah Scott each adding seven kills without a miscue.
Bragg added three more aces, with Fifield collecting 20 digs once again and Jaylynn Dunsmore posting four blocks.
Taylor (3-1) will return to action on August 27 and 28 when it hosts the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament inside Odle Arena. TU is set to take on Concordia and Saint Francis at noon and 5:00 pm on Friday, with a 5:00 pm affair against Bluefield on Saturday.
