Sloan Takes Home MSFA Special Team Player-of-the-Week Honor
UPLAND, Ind. – Cooper Sloan was named the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, following his role in Taylor’s 52-14 win over Saint Mary of the Woods.
Sloan went a perfect seven-for-seven on point-after attempts and also connected from 32 yards out on his lone field goal attempt of the contest. The sophomore kicker finished the evening with 10 points without a miss.
Sloan has gone 26-of-28 this season in extra-point attempts, while drilling each of his two field goal attempts.
The MSFA weekly honor is the first for Sloan in his young career, and put him with Jedidiah Galvin, Reid Messer and Justin Schroeder in earning a weekly league honor this season.
Sloan was also joined by Eliza Luttrell (women’s soccer), Ava Callaway (women’s soccer) and Ruth Anderson (volleyball) in being named an Athlete-of-the-Week by the MSFA or Crossroads League on Monday. With those four honors, TU Athletics now has 22 such awards this fall.
Sloan and the RV Trojans (4-2, 0-0 MSFA) will return to action on Saturday, October 17 to host Lawrence Tech (3-3, 0-0 MSFA) in a 1:00 pm start.
