Park City, Kan. The #3 seeded Holy Cross College men’s basketball team faced #2 Mid-America Christian University in the opening round on the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament this morning at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas.
After a back and forth battle to start the game, Holy Cross would take a 19-11 lead after a deep three by Storm Cook with 12 minutes remaining in the half. MACU tied the game up 28-28 with seven minutes remaining, but Holy Cross would go on a run of their own and enter halftime up 38-32.
A Noel Mpie layup to start the second half extended the lead 40-32. MACU would tie the game up 52-52 with six minutes to play, but two made free throws by Jordan Gaines gave them a 55-54 lead with just over five minutes remaining. MACU was able to edge out the Saints late and hand them the 69-63 defeat.
