OT Loss Sends Trojans Home Unhappy
MARIAN, Ind. – TU men’s soccer lost a heart-breaker in overtime against crosstown rival RV Indiana Wesleyan (8-3, 2-1 CL), sending the Trojans home with their first Crossroads League loss of the season.
Taylor outshot Indiana Wesleyan in the first half three to one, two of which landed on frame without finding the net. The match went into the half tied at zero, with the Trojan defense preventing the Wildcats from landing a single shot on goal.
That would prove to mean very little to IWU, however, as the Wildcats broke the scoreless tie with their first shot on goal just under nine minutes into the second half.
The Trojans were down 1-0 for nearly 15 minutes, before they tacked on a goal of their own. Senior, Josh Zeidan, locked in his second goal of the year, thanks to the service of Jhon Alzate and his second assist of the season.
Before the end of regulation, each team managed to take one more shot, both of which sailed over the goal, sending the Trojans into overtime for the second match in a row.
A mere twenty seconds into the 10-minute period, junior, Sawyer Watterson, struck a shot off target, but, after that, the Wildcats maintained control of the ball. Seven minutes later, IWU scored the game-winning goal.
Taylor (6-3-1, 1-1-1 CL) will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 9, when they take on Spring Arbor (5-5-1, 2-1 CL) inside Turner Stadium at 7:00 pm.
