Offense Falters in Men’s Basketball Road Loss to MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Taylor saw its four-game win streak come to a halt on Tuesday evening, as the Trojan offense could not get on track in a 66-46 loss at Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Jason Hubbard became the 32nd player in TU men’s basketball history to surpass 1,300-career points, posting 16 points, six rebounds, four steals and one block in another all-around effort and ending the night at 1,307.

Kaden Fuhrmann led the squad in scoring with 18 points on five-of-13 shooting from three-point range but only three other Trojans found the scoring column and no others had more than five points, as the supporting cast accounted for just 12 points on five-of-19 shooting.

Overall, Taylor shot just 32.7 percent from the field and seven-of-26 from deep, while finishing the night with only 16 made field goals compared to 20 turnovers.

MVNU (8-3, 1-2 CL) also struggled against TU’s perimeter defense with just eight makes in 24 attempt from beyond the arc, but went 17-of-27 from two-point range and converted the 20 Taylor turnovers into 25 points on the other end.

Taylor (4-6, 2-1 CL) will look to rebound when it hosts No. 11 Marian (6-2, 1-2 CL) on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
