Gophers’ Close named first star after recording the first two shutouts of his career against Wisconsin

  • Recorded the first two shutouts of his career against Wisconsin as the Gophers captured the program’s fifth Big Ten Championship in the nine-year history of the Big Ten Conference
  • Made 44 saves on the weekend to become the first Gophers goalie to shut out the Badgers in back-to-back games since George Clausen in February 1934
  • Leads the Big Ten and ranks fifth nationally with a 1.73 goals-against average and is tied for the Big Ten lead with a .933 save percentage
  • The Academic All-Big Ten honoree claims his first career weekly honor

  • Backstopped the Irish to a weekend sweep of Michigan, as the Irish improved to 4-0-0 versus the Wolverines this season
  • Stopped 59 of the 61 shots he faced over the weekend for a .967 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average
  • Earned the 75th win of his career on Saturday and moved into a tie for 12th all-time (NCAA DI men)
  • Claims his fourth career weekly honor and second in as many weeks

Ben Meyers, Minnesota

  • Led the Gophers to a weekend sweep of Wisconsin with five points, including his first career hat trick, as the Gophers won the program’s fifth Big Ten Championship
  • Closed out Friday’s 5-0 win with a natural hat trick before starting off Saturday’s 8-0 win with a fourth-straight goal for Minnesota and an assist
  • The junior captain and U.S. Olympian leads Minnesota with a career-high 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) and has eight points in three games since re-joining the Gophers after the Olympics
  • Claims his fourth career weekly honor and third of the season
