Trio of freshmen defensemen claim weekly accolades

First Star
David Gucciardi, Michigan State
D – Fr. – Toronto, Ontario
• Scored three of Michigan State’s four goals in the Great Lakes Invitational Showcase
• Had Michigan State’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to No. 4 Western Michigan
• Netted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, for a 3-2 win over No. 18 Michigan Tech
• Claims his first career weekly honor

Second Star
Corson Ceulemans, Wisconsin
D – Fr. – Beaumont, Alberta
• Named Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off defenseman of the tournament after recording points on three of Wisconsin’s five goals to help the Badgers capture the title
• Had an assist, three blocks, a game-high four shots and was +1 in Wisconsin’s 3-2 overtime win over Yale in the semifinals
• Tallied the Badgers’ first goal, unassisted, in their 2-2 overtime tie against No. 16 Providence that Wisconsin won in a shootout
• Earns his first career weekly honor

Third Star
Mason Lohrei, Ohio State
D – Fr. – Madison, Wis.
• Led the Buckeyes with four assists and shared the team scoring lead with four points in the sweep of LIU
• Recorded the primary assist on Georgii Merkulov’s power-play goal that gave the Buckeyes a three-goal lead in the third period on Friday
• Had a career-high three assists and was a personal-best +5 with a blocked a shot in the series finale
• Receives his first career weekly award
