Wolverines’ Hughes named first star after recording six points in a weekend sweep of Michigan State

  • Helped Michigan to a series sweep of Michigan State, recording six points on three goals, three assists and a plus-five rating
  • Scored a pair of power-play goals and had the primary assist on the game-winning goal in Friday’s 6-2 win, before adding a goal and two helpers in Saturday’s Duel in the D victory at Little Caesars Arena
  • Leads the nation’s defensemen in goals (13) and points (29), while tying a 45-year-old school record for goals scored by a freshman defenseman (Dean Turner in 1976-77)
  • Claims his first career weekly honor

  • Notched a pair of assists in Friday’s 3-2 win over the Buckeyes, helping get Minnesota out of an early deficit and then assisting on the eventual game winner
  • Followed up with his first career multi-goal game in Saturday’s 5-1 victory, closing out the game with back-to-back goals
  • Receives his first career weekly award
