Wolverines’ Phelia, Gophers’ Scalia and Huskers’ Markowski recognized for last week’s performances

Jr. – G – Stillwater, Minn. – Stillwater – Major: Business
• Scored a career-high 37 points and added eight rebounds and one steal in Minnesota’s victory against Ohio on Dec. 15
• Went 9-for-13 from behind the arc to record the second-most threes in a single game by any Gopher ever (men’s or women’s)
• Moved into 10th all-time in made threes in program history and became the second-fastest to reach 133 made threes (60 games)
• Earns her first career Big Ten Player of the Week award

Mackenzie Holmes, Jr., F, IND: Set a new career-high with 19 rebounds to go along with 17 points as IU defeated Western Michigan, with her 19 rebounds marking the most in a single game for the Hoosiers since 2016
Caitlin Clark, So., G, IOWA: Tallied 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a win over UCF on Dec. 18, drawing 10 fouls against the third-ranked defense in the country
Leigha Brown, Sr., G, MICH: Led Michigan to its first-ever win over a top-five team in a 74-68 victory over No. 5 Baylor, scoring a game-high 25 points while adding five boards, four assists and two steals

Laila Phelia, Michigan
G – Cincinnati, Ohio – Mount Notre Dame – Major: Undeclared
• Scored a career-high 12 points with five boards and two steals to help Michigan to its first-ever win over a top-five team with a victory against No. 5 Baylor on Dec. 19
• Started her fourth straight game and marked her fourth double-figure scoring game of the season
• Made a career-best two triples on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc
• Collects her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award

Alexis Markowski, Nebraska
F – Lincoln, Neb. – Pius X – Major: Undeclared
• Recorded her second straight double-double, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds in just over 16 minutes of action to help power Nebraska to an 89-68 win over Drake
• Hit 6-of-8 shots from the field and connected on all three of her free throw attempts to help snap Drake’s six-game winning streak
• Increased her season averages to 9.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in 14 minutes per game off the bench for the unbeaten Huskers
• Claims her second Big Ten Freshman of the Week award
