Wolverines’ Beniers earns First Star accolades after scoring both of Michigan’s game-winning goals last weekend
First Star
Matty Beniers, Michigan

• Scored both game-winning goals last weekend as Michigan swept Penn State on the road
• Found the back of the net twice on Friday, marking his third game with multiple goals and becoming the first Wolverine to have at least two goals in three straight games since Jason Botterill in 1997
• Finished his six-point weekend with a goal and a trio of assists in Saturday’s 6-2 win
• Earns his fourth career weekly award and his second in as many weeks

• Stopped 46 of the 47 shots he faced on the weekend, with the Badgers’ goal coming on their first shot of the series while skating on the power play
• His shutout on Saturday was his second of the season and the 21st of his career, moving him into a tie for third all-time in career shutouts (NCAA Men’s Div. I)
• Claims his second career weekly honor
