NORTHERN INDIANA CONFERENCE

Glenn (2-0) at Saint Joseph (1-1): The Indians blanked Glenn, 48-0, a year ago. Declan Conroy came up with two fumble recoveries for the Falcons in their 42-7 win over Riley. Ty Kamau gained 58 yards on 10 carries in Saint Joseph’s 39-14 loss at Northridge. Matt’s pick: Saint Joseph 25, Glenn 22.

Hammond Central (0-2) at Clay (0-2): Jordan Woods had a 57-yard touchdown catch in the Wolves’ 71-6 loss to Valparaiso. Michael McSorley ended with 10 tackles in the Colonials’ 61-0 loss to Goshen. Matt’s pick: Hammond Central 20, Clay 9.

Hammond Morton (0-2) at Elkhart (1-1): The Governors ended the 1971 season with a 35-7 loss to Elkhart. Dontell Harris accounted for 18 rushes for 63 yards in Hammond Morton’s 42-0 loss to Lake Central. Rodney Gates came up with five catches for 23 yards in the Lions’ 28-0 loss to Mishawaka. Matt’s pick: Elkhart 38, Hammond Morton 6.

Jimtown (0-2) at Osceola Grace (2-0) (Knepp Field): The Jimmies rolled to a 56-0 win over Osceola Grace last season. Trent Daniels had 12 carries for 58 yards in Jimtown’s 14-0 loss to Concord. Sam Harner exploded for 22 carries for 209 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles’ 49-26 win against Fremont. Matt’s pick: Jimtown 36, Osceola Grace 29.

Lowell (1-1) at New Prairie (2-0): The Red Devils edged No. 9 (Class 4A) New Prairie, 25-20, in the 2017 regional final. Joseph Heuer scampered 21 times for 176 yards and two scores in Lowell’s 26-21 win over Portage. Hayden Clark caught two passes for 68 yards in the Cougars’ 52-3 win over Twin Lakes. Matt’s pick: New Prairie 28, Lowell 24.

Marian (0-2) at Bremen (1-1): The Knights crowned Bremen, 49-26, a season ago. Greg Atkinson recorded six tackles and an interception in Marian’s 27-14 loss to Culver Academy. Ashton Shively had six carries for 49 yards and two scores in the Lions’ 33-14 win over Washington. Matt’s pick: Marian 33, Bremen 31.

Penn (0-2) at Indianapolis Cathedral (2-0): The top-ranked and defending Class 5A state champion Irish cruised to a 52-7 win at Penn last year. Alec Hardrict ran eight times for 57 yards with a touchdown in the Kingsmen’s 21-14 overtime loss to LaPorte. Ben Gomez booted field goals of 19 and 42 yards in Cathedral’s 20-7 win over No. 5 (Class 6A) Brownsburg. Matt’s pick: Cathedral 39, Penn 14.

Riley (0-2) at Adams (1-1) (TCU School Field): The Eagles soared to a 32-6 win against Riley in their previous meeting. Elijah Taylor was 3-of-4 for 20 yards for Riley against Glenn. Jeremiah Love had a seven-yard scoring run for Adams in a 29-16 win at Fairfield. Matt’s pick: Adams 48, Riley 12.

Washington (1-1) at Kankakee Valley (1-1): The Kougars rolled to a 42-7 win over Washington last season. Devin Devries chipped in four rushes for 19 yards for the Panthers against Bremen. Logan Parks came up with 26 carries for 128 yards in Kankakee Valley’s 27-7 win over Wheeler. Matt’s pick: Kankakee Valley 34, Washington 20.

NORTHERN LAKES CONFERENCE

Mishawaka (2-0) at Goshen (2-0): The No 5 (Class 5A) Cavemen opened the 2020 playoffs with a 45-6 win at Goshen. Chase Gooden accounted for 106 yards on the ground for Mishawaka against Elkhart. Connor Steele recorded 15 rushes for 38 yards with a score for the RedHawks against Clay. Matt’s pick: Mishawaka 43, Goshen 13.

NorthWood (1-1) at Conciord (1-1): The Minutemen suffered a 14-6 loss to NorthWood last year. NiTareon Tuggle hauled in a 12-yard touchdown reception in the Panthers’ 18-15 loss at Logansport. Hunter Dutton threw for 68 yards and a score for Concord against Jimtown. Matt’s pick: Concord 20, NorthWood 16.

Plymouth (0-2) at Warsaw (1-1): The Tigers clawed past Plymouth, 28-14, a season ago. Caiden Hooley notched six tackles in the Rockies’ 41-6 loss to Kokomo. Julius Jones tallied 83 yards on the ground with a score in Warsaw’s 35-16 loss to Michigan City. Matt’s pick: Warsaw 40, Plymouth 14.

Wawasee (0-2) at Northridge (2-0): The No. 8 (Class 4A) Raiders blanked Wawasee, 20-0, last season. Clint Walker caught a pair of touchdown passes for Northridge against Saint Joseph. Nate Larson registered an interception in the Warriors’ 19-7 loss at West Noble. Matt’s pick: Northridge 32, Wawasee 7.

DUNELAND CONFERENCE

Chesterton (2-0) at Michigan City (2-0): The Trojans claimed a 21-13 win over No. 9 (Class 5A) Michigan City a season ago. Jackson Westmoreland tallied seven receptions for 78 yards with a touchdown in Chesterton’s 42-0 blanking of Thornton Fractional South (Ill.). Jaden Hart recorded seven rushes for 44 yards and two scores for the Wolves against Warsaw. Matt’s pick: Michigan City 31, Chesterton 30.

Merrillville (2-0) at Crown Point (1-1); The No. 3 (Class 6A) Pirates clubbed Crown Point, 39-0, in the 2020 sectional opener. Justin Marshall registered three catches for 134 yards with two touchdowns in Merrillville’s 41-14 win over Hobart. Elijah Tiawhan ran 18 times for 124 yards and caught a pass for a score in the Bulldogs’ 21-7 loss to No. 4 (Class 2A) Andrean. Matt’s pick: Merrillville 44, Crown Point 15.

Portage (1-1) at Lake Central (2-0): The Indians were a 21-0 winner over Lake Central a season ago. Devan Howard rambled 15 times for 142 yards with a score for Portage against Lowell. Amarion Brooks raced eight times for 57 yards and two scores for the Indians against Hammond Morton. Matt’s pick: Lake Central 13, Portage 10.

Valparaiso (2-0) at LaPorte (1-1): The No. 4 (Class 5A) Vikings earned a sectional title last year with a 35-21 win at LaPorte. Thomas Vo accounted for a scoring run and reception for Valparaiso against Hammond Central. Jayden Parkes racked up a 29-yard touchdown run for the Slicers against Penn.
