Notre Dame, Ind. The Holy Cross women’s basketball team returned to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play this afternoon when they hosted St. Xavier University. This was the Saints first home game of the season. After a Grace Adams made layup, the Saints took a 14-13 lead after the first quarter. Both teams went back and forth in the second quarter, before a late bucket by St. Xavier gave them a 33-30 lead at halftime. The Saints struggled in the third quarter and were outscored 20-6, as the game entered the final quarter with the Cougars 53-36 advantage. The Saints cut the lead to 10 points late in the fourth, but the comeback was not enough as Holy Cross would fall 73-63. With the loss, Holy Cross stands at 1-3 overall and 0-2 in CCAC play while SXU improves to 4-0 and 2-0.
