CHICAGO, Ill. – Helping IU South Bend secure two victories in the final week of the regular season, senior middle hitter Hannah Marchand was named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Marchand led the Titans (20-6) to wins over Lincoln and Judson, while averaging a full block per set over both matches. The 2019 CCAC Player of the Year also finished with 11 and 15 kills over the Lynx and Eagles, respectively.
On the season, Marchand is the team leader in kills, but has also posted 66 total blocks in 89 sets, for a 0.74 blocks-per-set average, 13th-best in the CCAC. The senior is also second in the league with 4.0 kills and 4.8 points per set.
Marchand and the Titans begin their postseason push later tonight, when they host Cardinal Stritch in the CCAC Tournament Quarterfinal. Playing as the No. 2 seed, first serve for the Titans from the Student Activities Center is set for 8:00 p.m.
