Fighting Illini’s Vickery, Wolverines’ Storako, Huskers’ Gray and Scarlet Knights’ Lawson claim this week’s conference honors

Jaelyn Vickery, Illinois
So. – OF – Kankakee, Ill. – Bishop McNamara – Major: Psychology
• Batted .538 with a 1.231 slugging percentage and .538 on-base percentage, two home runs, four RBI, five runs scored and three steals in helping Illinois split four games last weekend at the Razorback invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
• Went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a Fighting Illini win at No. 10 Arkansas on Sunday
• Also went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI in a Feb. 19 victory over Western Illinois
• Captures her first career Player of the Week honor

Sydney Gray, Nebraska
So. – 3B – Tucson, Ariz. – Sabino – Major: Business Administration
• Posted a .438 batting average with a 1.188 slugging percentage and .550 on-base percentage, four home runs, 10 RBI and six runs scored in pacing Nebraska to a 4-1 weekend at the Troy Cox Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
• Homered twice and drove in four runs in two games last weekend — Feb. 19 vs. Northern Colorado and Sunday vs. Southeastern Louisiana
• Had at least one hit in all four Huskers’ wins at the tournament
• Earns her first career Player of the Week honor

Pitcher of the Week
Alex Storako, Michigan
Sr. – RHP – Frankfort, Ill. – Lincoln Way East – Major: Sport Management
• Went 2-0 (both wins coming against ranked opponents) with a 0.50 ERA, 18 strikeouts, two complete games and one shutout last weekend at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.
• Tossed a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts against No. 24 UCF on Feb. 18
• Came back the next day to go the distance in a win over No. 21 LSU, limiting the Tigers to a run on four hits while fanning 11
• Two-time Academic All-Big Ten Team selection (2020, 2021)
• Collects her sixth career Pitcher of the Week plaudit
• Last Michigan Pitcher of the Week: Meghan Beaubien (May 18, 2021)
Freshman of the Week
Maddie Lawson, Rutgers
IF – Mebane, N.C. – Eastern Alamance – Major: Undeclared
• Hit .500 with a .750 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage, with a home run and six RBI last weekend at the Pirate Clash in Greenville, N.C., helping Rutgers win all five tournament games and get off to its best start since 1996 (7-3 record)
• Had three multi-hit games at the tournament, including a three-hit outing on Feb. 19 against Colgate
• Homered, scored twice and drove in three runs in the Feb. 18 tournament opener against Wagner
• Receives her first career Freshman of the Week award
