Notre Dame, Ind. The Holy Cross College men’s soccer team returned to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action this afternoon when they hosted the University of St. Francis. A wet and rainy game ended in a 3-3 tie. Holy Cross took a 2-0 lead heading into halftime off of two goals scored by Jake Purvis. St. Francis cut into the lead in the 50th minute with a goal of their own, but Holy Cross extended their lead in the 52nd minute to 3-1. St. Francis was able to convert on to penalty kicks in the 81st and 83rd minutes to tie the match 3-3. The game would end in a 3-3 tie after 20 additional minutes played in overtime. With the tie, Holy Cross improves to 3-3-2 and 0-2-2 in CCAC play, while St. Francis moves to 1-6-1 and 1-1-1.
