Germano, Gorka Help Judson Sweep Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

CHICAGO — Judson University gained a sweep of the second round of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) men’s soccer weekly awards courtesy of the play of Luis Germano (Curitiba, Brazil) and Brandon Gorka (Algonquin, Ill.), it was announced by the league office Tuesday morning.

Germano was recognized as the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week during the seven-day period ending Sept. 5. The senior forward produced a pair of goals on Saturday in the Eagles’ 3-0 victory over Missouri Baptist University, which was among others receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Defensively, the honor went to Gorka, who permitted just one goal in 200 minutes of action over two matches. The senior goalkeeper allowed his only goal in a 1-1, double overtime tie with NCAA II Northern Michigan University on Thursday.

Gorka made four saves in that contest before collecting one more in the 3-0 shutout of Missouri Baptist.

Judson remained unbeaten through three contests improving to 2-0-1 on the campaign.
