Georgia, Texas, Michigan & Ohio State Top Week 5 Rankings for the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll
POLL NOTES:
Top-ranked Georgia survived Auburn’s upset bid on the road. Texas roared past Kansas in the second half in Austin. Michigan had no trouble at Nebraska. With Ohio State and Florida State both idle Saturday, the only Top 10 team to lose was then No. 10 Utah at Oregon State.
In fact, only two other poll teams from a week ago lost Saturday: then No. 13 LSU at Ole Miss and then No.16 Duke to then No. 11 Notre Dame in Durham in the final minute. As a result, there was not much movement in the poll this week with the top seven teams from a week ago remaining in the same order this week.
After the losses, Utah, LSU and Duke dropped out of this week’s poll. They were replaced by Washington State, Ole Miss and Oregon State. Both Washington State and Ole Miss join the poll for the first time this season.
The Pac-12 led all leagues with five teams in the poll followed by the Big Ten and the SEC with three each. The Big 12 and ACC had two apiece and the Independents one.
