CHICAGO, Ill. – No. 19 IU South Bend was well-represented among the 2022 All-CCAC Men’s Basketball Team awards, as the league announced its all-conference awards on Wednesday.
Four players earned All-CCAC honors, as Dylan Allen was named to the All-CCAC First Team and Sergio Diaz was named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Donyell Meredith and Miles Tracy both picked up All-CCAC Second Team honors.
Allen led the Titans (25-6) in scoring, with 14.3 points per game. The senior ranks among the conference’s top ten in three-pointers (59), is 6th in the league with a 81.0% free throw percentage, and on the defensive end ranks 5th with 59 steals on the year. This season marks Allen’s first appearance on the All-CCAC First Team and second-ever all-conference honor, after being named an Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2019.
Diaz picked up two awards, as the senior was named an All-CCAC Honorable Mention as well as the CCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Diaz ranks among the league’s top-30 in both blocked shots and steals, while averaging 9.3 points per game for IU South Bend. With 48 made three-pointers on the season, Diaz ranks 17th in the CCAC from long range to earn his first career All-CCAC honors.
Meredith also earned his first career All-CCAC award, earning Second Team recognition. The junior ranks 17th in the CCAC and second on the team in scoring, with 14.1 points per game. Meredith led the team in scoring six times this season, including a career-best 30 points in the CCAC Tournament win over Judson, and reached 1,000 career points last month.
Tracy was named to the All-CCAC Second Team for the second time in his career, after his selection as a sophomore in 2020. Tracy was the third player to average double figures for the Titans, with 12.3 points per game. The junior ranked 8th in the CCAC with a 57.6% field goal percentage, and was among the top 20 in the league in rebounding, with 170 total boards on the year.
The Titans earned an automatic berth into the 2022 NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship, their third tournament appearance in as many years. The team will learn where they are headed for their Opening Round matchup when the full 64-team field is revealed on the NAIA Facebook page, on Thursday, March 3 at 8:00 p.m.
