CSU’s Sagstad, RU’s Aguinaga-Hernandez Earn W. Soccer Honors
CHICAGO — A three-goal week by Cardinal Stritch University’s Mari Sagstad (Trondheim, Norway) and a pair of shutouts from Roosevelt University’s Gaby Aguinaga-Hernandez (Chicago, Ill.) have earned the pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Sagstad helped Cardinal Stritch notch its first two wins of the season this past week. The freshman midfielder recorded a pair of goals in the Wolves’ 5-1 win over Briar Cliff University (Iowa) on Friday before notching the game-winning goal in a 1-0 decision over Morningside College (Iowa) on Sunday.
The perfect week improved Cardinal Stritch’s overall mark to 2-0-1 on the season.
Aguinaga also led her team to its first two victories of the campaign with her play in the net during the week of Aug. 30. The sophomore totaled seven saves in a 2-0 blanking of Bethel University (Ind.) on Tuesday. She added another save in her second shutout, a 4-0 effort over Cleary University (Mich.) on Saturday.
The shutouts were the first two of Aguinaga-Hernandez’s career and evened out the Lakers’ record at 2-2 on the season.

Other Defensive Nominees: Mackenzie Rooke (Indiana Northwest), Sarah Davis (Trinity International), Kaitlin Paul (Indiana South Bend).
