Brackenbury Celebrated as National Defensive Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY – The NAIA released its fourth installment of weekly awards, in which Trojan goalie, Hannah Brackenbury, was recognized at the national level as the Defensive Player of the Week. The TU junior was chosen among 18 total nominees for the award.
During Taylor’s most recent undefeated week, Brackenbury nearly doubled her nation-leading shutout number by piling up three more as the Trojans extended their program-record shutout-streak to seven. Throughout Taylor’s three-win week, the junior goalie secured seven saves while maintaining her perfect 0.0 goals-against average for the season.
Brackenbury now has 22 total saves on the year, dominating the net in Taylor’s 630 scoreless-minutes of undefeated play.
Brackenbury was also recognized at the conference level as the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week, which was the first weekly honor of her career. With the latest NAIA award, the Grand Haven, Michigan, native adds yet another achievement to her standout junior season.
Furthermore, the stud goalie’s national award is not only the first of her career, but also just the second such award received by a Trojan in the era of head coach Scott Stan, which began back in 2008.
TU Athletics now boasts two NAIA National Player-of-the-Week awards thus far in the 2021-2022 athletic year.
Brackenbury and the RV Trojans (7-0-0) return to action on Saturday, September 25, when they kick off league play against Mount Vernon Nazarene (3-3-0) at 7:00 pm.
