MISHAWAKA – Bethel Baseball finished off the sweep of Goshen in the four game series on Saturday, with dominating starting pitching performances from Justin Rasmussen in game one and Frank Plesac in game two. Rasmussen opened the day going seven scoreless innings allowing four hits while striking out 11 in a game one win and Frank Plesac finished off the nightcap with a complete game 14-strikeout, one-walk victory.

  • Jeremy Wiersema hit his first collegiate home run in game two and followed it up with a double off the wall in his next at bat.
  • Eli MacDonald was perfect from the plate in game one, belting his second home run of the season and swiping two bags on the basepaths. MacDonald raised his team-leading batting average to .338 this season.
  • Frank Plesac finishes off an stellar week on the mound. In two starts, the freshman went for two complete games (14.0 IP), allowing just one earned run and striking out 19 against just two free passes, while recording two wins. Plesac polished off the game with a 10-pitch, 3-strikeout inning in the seventh, just an inning-opening ball out of the zone away from an immaculate inning.
  • The win ensures the Pilots another victory in the US Highway 20 Cup Series with Goshen, as the Pilots lead the Maple Leafs 7.50-4.00 with 2.50 points up for grabs yet this year.
