MISHAWAKA – Bethel Baseball got up early but had to rally in both ends of Monday’s doubleheader against Marian, winning 10-6 and 12-11 to take the doubleheader sweep and the 3-1 series win. The Pilots scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth of game one after falling behind 6-4 to earn the win and led by as many as 9-1 in game two before falling behind 11-9 entering their final at bat. Jake Schalasky‘s bases loaded walk-off hit by pitch secured the game two win 12-11.

  • The Pilots hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning of game two. Jeremy Wiersema hit a two-run shot to tie it before Alex Stout hit a solo shot to give the Pilots the early lead.
  • The Pilots hit eight extra-base hits on the day, notching six doubles and the back-to-back jacks.
  • Pilot starting pitching combined for 11.0 innings and only allowed four earned runs on six base hits but came away with a pair of no decisions.
