Amy Hasbrook Leadership Award established by IHSAA Foundation

Family’s gift endows two scholarships for female high school student athletes

In honor of this 50th anniversary celebration of Title IX, the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Inc. is proud to announce the creation of the Amy Hasbrook Leadership Award.

Thanks to a very generous donation to the IHSAA Foundation from the Hasbrook family of Indianapolis in
the name of their late daughter Amy, two new post-secondary scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded in perpetuity.

Beginning in 2022-23, two female multi-sport student-athletes who best exemplify and embody sportsmanship, leadership, integrity,
dedication to the team, and community service will be selected from the IHSAA’s 407 member schools.

“We are extremely grateful to the Hasbrook family for their extraordinary generosity,” said  IHSAA Foundation President Matt Wolfert. “These post-secondary scholarships are not only a lasting tribute to Amy but to that of the opportunities provided by Title IX.”

Members of the Hasbrook family were recognized for their generous donation on the court during the recent IHSAA
Boys Basketball State Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Amy Hasbrook was a student-athlete at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis and later DePauw University who
participated in girls basketball and was a product of the opportunities that Title IX created.

Amy tragically perished in a house fire in 2002. Her legacy is the impression she left on those who knew her.

Awards also have been established at Cathedral High School and DePauw University to honor her legacy. As a captain of
the basketball team while at DePauw, she is still the Tigers’ all-time leading field goal shooter at 65.2%.

Amy was also a two-time member of the SCAC Honor Roll and Head Coach Kris Huffman refers to Amy as the “fiercest competitor she’s
ever seen.”
