The Mideast League co-champs combined to take 20 of the 32 First Team selections, as the 2023 MSFA All-Mideast League Team was announced on Monday.
Marian led the way with 11 First Team picks, including six on the offensive side of the ball, while Indiana Wesleyan took nine First Team spots including five on defense. Indiana Wesleyan rusher Dederrian Williams was named the Mideast League Offensive Player of the Year, after leading the league with 110.4 yards per game and collecting 11 rushing TDs while helping lead the Wildcats to their second consecutive league title.
On the other side of the ball, Marian defensive back Nate Frey was named the Mideast League Defensive Player of the Year. Frey tallied 64 tackles throughout the season along with two interceptions as the Knights averaged a league-low 15.5 points allowed per game.
As the top vote getter at his position, Indiana Wesleyan offensive lineman Lucas Doyle was selected as the Mideast League Offensive Lineman of the Year. Wildcat head coach Andrew Rode was named the Mideast League Coach of the Year in his first season in Marion, while Marian’s defensive coordinator Justin Robinson was tabbed the Mideast League’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
