• In the penultimate week of regular season play, 16 Big Ten teams will take the field. The slate begins with a pair of Noon games on Saturday and concludes with a West Coast matchup between Washington and UCLA at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT on NBC. Indiana and Purdue will enjoy byes this week, with the complete schedule appearing to the right.
• The Big Ten had six teams included in the College Football Playoff’s third rankings of the season on Nov. 18: No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 7 Oregon, No. 15 USC, No. 18 Michigan and No. 21 Illinois. The CFP will release its next top 25 rankings on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
• Nine of the Big Ten’s 18 teams are mentioned in this week’s AP or US LBM Coaches Polls, announced on Sunday. The AP poll includes No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 6 Oregon, No. 16 USC, and No. 18 Michigan, with Illinois, Iowa and Washington receiving votes. At No. 1, Ohio State leads eight Big Ten teams in the coaches’ poll (No. 2 Indiana, No. 5 Oregon, No. 16 USC, and No. 17 Michigan); Illinois, Washington, Iowa and Nebraska also received recognition.
• The Big Ten has two of the remaining three undefeated teams in the FBS heading into week 12: Ohio State (10-0) and Indiana (11-0). Ohio State takes on Rutgers at home while Indiana has a bye.
• The Big Ten announced its Football Players of the Week, presented by IFS.ai on Monday, with Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Penn State’s Kaytron Allen sharing Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Mendoza was 22-of-24 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns in the Hoosiers’ win against Wisconsin. His efforts helped IU set a single-season mark for touchdown passes with his 30th of the season. Allen averaged 7.2 yards per carry and tallied a career-high 181 yards and two touchdowns in Penn State’s win over Michigan State. The senior running back became the first Nittany Lion to rush for 180+ yards since Journey Brown went for 202 in the 2019 Cotton Bowl.
• Penn State’s Dani Dennis-Sutton claimed Defensive Player of the Week honors after he posted two sacks and multiple tackles for losses. It was his fourth career game with multiple sacks as a Nittany Lion.
• USC’s Ryon Sayeri was named Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking two field goals (40 and 28) and three PATs for a total of nine points in USC’s 26-21 victory over No. 21 Iowa in the rain. Sayeri currently holds the fifth-best field goal percentage in the nation with 94.4%.
• Michigan wide receiver Andrew Marsh garnered Freshman of the Week honors, as he recorded 12 catches and 189 yards, both of which are single-game records among Michigan freshmen, in Michigan’s victory against Northwestern at Wrigley Field. Marsh is the first U-M freshman wide receiver to record multiple 100-yard performances since 2009.
• Rutgers’ Antwan Raymond and Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson were named semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, an award given annually to the nation’s top running back.
• Two Big Ten players were named semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, the award for the nation’s best kicker. Indiana’s Nico Radicic and USC’s Ryon Sayeri were named to the shortlist of 20 players.
• No. 16 USC will travel to No. 6 Oregon at 6:30 p.m. PT/4:30 p.m. ET on CBS. It will be a matchup of two of the nation’s premier quarterbacks, as Oregon’s Dante Moore and USC’s Jayden Maiava are fourth (186.2) and sixth (166.3) in the nation in passing efficiency, respectively.
• Three other Big Ten quarterbacks also rank in the top ten nationally in passing efficiency in the nation. Ohio State’s Julian Sayin (186.2) leads the nation and is followed closely by Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza in second (184.8). Washington’s Demond Williams Jr. sits sixth in the NCAA (166.3).
• The Big Ten paces all other conferences for teams ranked within the top 25 in total defense, claiming eight. Ohio State leads the FBS with 212.6 yards per game, followed by three other teams within the top ten: Oregon (3rd, 235.4), Indiana (4th, 249.0), and Iowa (6th, 261.2).
• Ohio State currently holds the longest win streak in the country with 14 consecutive wins, the fourth 10+ winning streak for Ryan Day with 16 consecutive wins in 2018-19, 14 consecutive wins this year, 12 in 2021-22, and 11 consecutive wins in 2023.
• Indiana is 11-0 to start a season for the first time in program history after its 31-7 win over Wisconsin. The Hoosiers also currently hold the longest home winning streak in college football with 15 straight wins at Memorial Stadium.
• Seven Big Ten teams rank among the top 25 nationally in Relative Scoring Offense, the statistic most closely correlated with winning over the last ten years. Indiana leads the nation and the conference (178.65%), followed by Oregon at No. 2 (175.87%), No.6 USC (162.40%), No. 10 Ohio State (154.42%), No. 12 Penn State (153.67%), No. 15 Illinois (145.29%) and No. 20 Washington (138.54%).
• The Big Ten claimed back-to-back national championship titles for the first time since 1942 last season as Ohio State defeated Notre Dame, 34-23, in the 2024 College Football Playoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The Buckeyes brought home their sixth national championship to the Horseshoe in Columbus and first since the inaugural CFP National Championship in the 2014-15 season.
• The 2025 Discover Big Ten Championship Game will be held on Saturday, December 6, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will be broadcast by FOX. The winner will represent the conference as the Automatic Qualifier (AQ) to the College Football Playoff.
