Buckeyes’ Dezenzo named Player of the Week; Buckeyes’ Lonsway earned Pitcher of the Week; Scarlet Knights’ Sweeney captured Freshman of the Week

 

 

Player of the Week
Zach Dezenzo, Ohio State

SS – Jr. – Alliance, Ohio – Alliance

 

  • Hit .533 (8-of-15) with two home runs in a four-game sweep of conference leader Indiana
  • Had a four-hit game in Sunday’s series finale, including a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth
  • Hit two home runs as he registered a .563 on-base percentage and .933 slugging percentage
  • The Academic All-Big Ten honoree wins his first career Big Ten Player of the Week award

  • Threw a complete-game two-hit shutout with a career-high 17 strikeouts in a 6-0 win over Indiana on April 3
  • Recorded 17 of the 21 outs via the strikeout in 7.0 innings of action
  • Threw just 95 pitches in the game
  • Wins his fourth career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award and first of the season

  • Tallied five RBI on seven hits and scored two runs while batting .583 last weekend vs. Penn State
  • Recorded two home runs and two doubles as he registered a .583 on-base percentage and 1.250 slugging percentage
  • Put Rutgers ahead to stay with an eighth-inning grand slam in Sunday’s 6-4 win
  • Wins his first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award
