SOUTH BEND, Ind. – IU South Bend will head into the Thanksgiving break in sole possession of first place in the CCAC, following a 68-65 win over Governors State inside the Student Activities Center on Tuesday night.

The Titans (7-2, 4-0 CCAC) had three players finish in double figures, led by Miles Tracy’s 18 points. Dylan Allen scored 15 points with an 8-for-10 performance from the free throw line, while Spencer Pettit had ten points in the win.

A three from Tracy followed by Kenny Washington’s layup off Micah Poole’s steal gave IUSB an early 18-6 lead by the 11:31 mark of the first half. Governors State () responded with seven unanswered points, cutting the deficit to 18-13 just 90 seconds later, and neither side would build a double-digit lead the rest of the night.

Late in the first half the Jaguars (4-7, 2-3 CCAC) made it a one-point game with a three-pointer with 2:19 remaining, but a score from Tracy and a Sergio Diaz dunk closed out the half to give the Titans a 27-22 lead at the break.

The visitors briefly claimed the lead down the stretch in the second half, as the Jaguars scored a 6-0 run to go up 51-50 with 6:20 left on the clock. Free throws from Allen edged IUSB back out in front before Governors State scored again to retake a one-point lead, but back-to-back threes from Allen and Miles gave the Titans a 58-53 advantage with 4:01 to play.

Some clutch free throw shooting down the stretch allowed the Titans to manage the lead and hold on for their fourth win in conference play in four games this season. The victory leaves IUSB as the last remaining unbeaten team in CCAC action this year.

The Titans will break for Thanksgiving before returning to the Student Activities Center next week, when they host East-West (Ill.) on Wednesday, December 1. Tipoff with the Phantoms is set for 6:00 p.m.
