Bradon Godette hauled in four touchdown passes for Adams in a 30-26 loss at New Prairie. Derrick Woods ran for two touchdowns and caught a pass for another tally in the Lions’ 49-6 win over Saint Joseph. Matt’s pick: Elkhart 41, Adams 16.

Angola (3-1) at Clay (1-5): The Hornets and Clay are getting together for the first time on the gridiron. Finley Hasselman accounted for 14 yards on the ground with a score in Angola’s 29-17 loss to Fairfield/ James Johnson rambled 66 yards for a score in the Colonials’ 49-6 loss at Jimtown. Matt’s pick: Angola 39, Clay 6.

Bremen (4-2) at Prairie Heights (0-6): The Lions roared to a 48-27 win over Prairie Heights in the 2014 Class 2A sectional opener. Grant Kauffman tallied 10 carries for 62 yards with a touchdown in Bremen’s 28-8 win over Glenn. Luke Severe threw for 44 yards in the Panthers’ 69-0 loss at Eastside. Glenn (3-3) at LaVille (3-0): The Lancers slipped past Glenn, 14-7, a year ago. Jamie Gierlowski ran 20 times for 50 yards for the Falcons against Bremen. Luke Plummer was 7-of-11 for 278 yards with four touchdowns and ran for another score in LaVille’s 42-20 win over Knox. Matt’s pick: LaVille 33, Glenn 10.

Jimtown (3-2, 2-1 NIC) at Washington (1-5, 1-2 NIC) (TCU School Field): The Jimmies were a 31-13 winner over Washington last season. Cole Thompson found the end zone twice for Jimtown against Clay. Ty’Shaun Grundy rambled 61 yards for a score in the Panthers’ 24-21 loss to Riley. Matt’s pick: Jimtown 40, Washington 7,

New Prairie (4-2, 2-1 NIC) at Riley (3-3, 2-1 NIC): The Cougars clawed past Riley, 48-14, last season. Ian Scornog accounted for a pair of scores for New Prairie against Adams. Tyson Lee’s quarterback sack preserved the Wildcats’ win over Washington. Matt’s pick: New Prairie 29, Riley 19.

Penn (2-4, 0-2 NIC) at Saint Joseph (2-4, 1-2 NIC): The Kingsmen crowned Saint Joseph, 34-2, last year. Ryan Majerek converted a 31-yard field goal in Penn’s 20-16 loss to No. 2 (Class 3A) Marian. Tyrick Kamau accounted for the Indians’ lone touchdown against Elkhart with four-yard scamper. Matt’s pick: Penn 35, Saint Joseph 12.


Eastside (6-0) at Concord (3-2): The No. 4 Blazers are making their first visit to Jake Field to take on Concord. Jaiden Baker booted eight extra-points for Eastside against Prairie Heights. Titus Hackworth scampered nine times for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Minutemen’s 36-19 loss at Mishawaka. Matt’s pick: Eastside 28, Concord 27.

Mishawaka (2-3, 2-1 NLC) at NorthWood (2-2, 2-1 NLC): The Cavemen are traveling to Andrews Field to meet NorthWood for the first time. Chaz Hardy accounted for six carries for 32 yards for Mishawaka against Concord. Parker Filley caught two passes for 63 yards in the Panthers’ 7-0 loss to Northridge. Northridge (4-1, 3-1 NLC) at Goshen (1-2, 0-2 NLC): The Raiders marched past Goshen, 28-10, a year ago. Logan Hooley completed 5-of-6 for 68 yards with a score and ran 22 times for 112 yards for Northridge against NorthWood. Noah Alford tallied 10 catches for 108 yards in the RedHawks’ 41-28 loss to Warsaw. Matt’s pick: Northridge 37, Goshen 13.

Warsaw (5-1, 4-0 NLC) at Wawasee (2-4, 0-4 NLC): The Tigers cruised to a 42-18 win over Wawasee a season ago. Luke Adamiec had a 67-yard catch for a score for Warsaw against Goshen. Chesterton (3-3, 3-1 DAC) at Lake Central (1-5, 0-4 DAC): The Trojans blanked Lake Central, 38-0, last year. Mitch McElfresh accounted for a 16-yard touchdown reception in Chesterton’s 20-0 blanking of Portage. Max Creasbaum managed nine rushes for 64 yards in the Indians’ 48-6 loss to Michigan City. Crown Point (3-2, 2-1 DAC) at LaPorte (1-5, 1-3 DAC): The Bulldogs claimed a 21-10 win over LaPorte in their previous meeting. Sammy Brewer’s 26-yard field goal lifted Crown Point to a 24-21 win over Portage. R.J. Anglin went 5-of-10 for 102 yards and a score in the Slicers’ 39-7 loss to Merrillville. Merrillville (5-0) at Indianapolis Bishop Chatard (5-1): The No. 2 (Class 6A) Pirates and top-ranked and defending Class 3A state champion Bishop Chatard are getting together for the first time on the football field. Jo Jo Johnson exploded 61 yards for a touchdown for Merrillville against LaPorte. Noah Carter caught five passes for 63 yards with a score in the Trojans’ 38-0 win over Guerin Catholic. Michigan City (3-1, 1-1 DAC) at Portage (2-4, 1-3 DAC): The No. 8 (Class 5A) Wolves roared to a 28-0 victory over Portage last season. Jonathon Flemings rumbled 11 times for 109 yards and two scores for Michigan City against Lake Central. Terrell Creft ran 14 times for 41 yards for the Indians against Chesterton.
